Why I have constructed BlogginBetsy
I have been thinking a lot about blogs in classrooms. When I took a workshop on blogs at the 2005 NCCE Conference in Seattle I realized there are some very powerful aspects of blogging and some rather scary ones as well.
I created a blog for our Instructional Technology Team right after the NCCE Conference. I copied technology tips from our Celebration Newsletter and added a ton of outstanding math websites. The blog address was made available to teachers in our district (about 1,200) and only my teammates visited the site. It was not a big hit at the time.
So now I am writing just for me. This blog doesn't necessarily need an audience. It's purpose will be to keep me abreast of what is going on in the world and it's main purpose will be benefit Betsy.
Things are changing fast and furiously these days. I hope to use this blog to:

- keep notes about books I have been reading
- link to articles I have read online
- incorporate my family, my job and my traveling into a huge learning experience
- learn by doing - model blogging for my teacher husband - who I think would benefit greatly by blogging in his ninth grade classroom
- get over my fear/dread/spelling-related-neurosis about writing
